Bird ID Trail – Now Open
Discover birds in a whole new way on Tenafly Nature Center’s Bird ID Trail, a self-guided exhibit hidden within our forest. This interactive experience invites visitors of all ages to slow down, sharpen their observation skills, and explore the rich birdlife that calls TNC home.
Begin your adventure by stopping at the Visitors’ Center, then head to the bird feeders to learn which trail to follow. Along the path, search for 11 hidden metal bird silhouettes representing nine native bird species found throughout our preserve. Look for signs near each silhouette, scan the QR codes to learn more about the species, and listen to bird calls through links to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
How many birds can you find? Keep your eyes, and ears, open as you continue along the trail, and see if you can spot the real birds that inspired this engaging forest experience.
To help protect the forest and ensure a safe experience for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
- Stay on the marked path to avoid poison ivy, ticks, and potential harm to wildlife
- Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photos
- Enjoy your time, respect nature and fellow visitors
