Tenafly Nature Center invites artists of all ages, businesses, and organizations to create lighted faerie
houses or faerie-themed artwork to adorn the faerie trail on Saturday July 12 from 4:00 pm – 9:00
pm. This is a creative way to take part in a community event and for artists, businesses and
organizations to market their brand.
A non-refundable fee of $10 is required for each artist submission. Artists aged 18 and under can participate at no cost. If your concept requires approval, a decision will be made within one week of application submission.
If you register and but are unable to attend the exhibit, please notify us as soon as possible at development@TenaflyNC.org.
- Artists are encouraged to post in-progress photos and tag or collaborate with @tenaflynature on Instagram as they work on their pieces.
- Once completed, artists will need to email development@TenaflyNC.org a photo of the art piece including its name and pricing if available for sale.
- Saturday, July 12 event tickets will be on sale for TNC Members: $5/person and for Non-members: $8/person. Children 2 and under are FREE.
- On Saturday, July 12: artists will come to the nature center between 4:00-5:00 pm to check in and set up their piece. They will fill out a name tag with price and contact information if they wish. As they check in a photograph will be taken of each house. Make sure to have a lighted element for it (battery operated and non-flammable).
- Artists must collect their pieces at 9 pm on Saturday, July 12.
- If an artist would like to have their piece on display at the Tenafly Public Library, they may drop it off there during normal business hours on Monday, July 14 or Tuesday, July 15.
- After the event TNC, we will post all photographs of houses on the webpage, including pricing info for pieces available for purchase.
- Questions? Email development@TenaflyNC.org
There are no size limitations, however, if your piece exceeds 12” x 12” x 12” in size or will need to be hung instead of placed on the ground, please request approval through the application form.
To protect the health of our preserve, all artwork and associated pieces must not contain any glitter in any form, balloons, fragile/easily breakable glass, non-native seeds, living animals, or open flames.
*Select Faerie Houses will be available for sale.
The Faerie Trail walk will take place at the Tenafly Nature Center along the Red Trail, a 1/3-mile trail, through a portion of our preserve. It will follow a dirt trail that is not wheelchair accessible.
Artists will be responsible for setting up their own houses or artwork between 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm and removing them at 9:00 pm on Saturday, July 12.
After the walk, the pieces will be displayed at the Tenafly Public Library (100 Riveredge Rd, Tenafly, NJ 07670). Participants must remove their pieces at 9 pm on July 12 then transport their works to the library during normal business hours on Monday, July 14 or Tuesday, July 15.
The art pieces will be on display through August 22. Any unsold pieces will need to be picked up the week of August 25 – 29 during normal business hours.
While on display at the Tenafly Public Library QR codes will be used to help sell pieces which are for sale.
Mist, fog, or light rain will not lead to postponement of the event. However, if heavy rain and/or thunderstorms are forecast for the day, the event will be on the rain date (Sunday, July 13). Updates will be posted on the TNC website, Facebook, and Instagram, and participants will also be notified via email.
On Saturday, July 12, Faerie house artists will carry their creations to and place them along the ground of the Red Trail’s dirt path. With prior approval, artists may hang their faerie-themed piece along the Red Trail. Stands or posts for hanging are permitted, but artists are responsible for the security of their installations. Store-bought items are allowed for youth artists, as long as they’ve been creatively altered. Battery-operated lights are required for each piece.
The Tenafly Nature Center and Tenafly Public Library are not liable for any damage.
Artists have the option to list their works for sale at a price of their choosing. The Tenafly Nature Center will promote the works both on-site and after the event, and in return, will retain a 10% commission on any sales made.
Each artist is responsible for obtaining their own business or personal liability insurance to cover any loss, damage, liability, or injury that may occur during Fireflies and Faeries. By participating, individuals waive any and all claims against the Tenafly Nature Center, Tenafly Public Library and its venue partners.
Failure to follow any of the above rules/regulations will result in removal from the event. Rules are subject to change.
