Plant a Tree in Honor or Memory
Celebrate someone special with a living tribute. Your tree will help restore native forest habitat and support local wildlife for generations to come.
Sponsor a Recognition Bench
Create a peaceful spot for reflection within our scenic 400-acre preserve. Each sustainably crafted bench features a personalized plaque and supports trail care, environmental education, and habitat preservation.
Every gift is 100% tax-deductible and directly supports the stewardship of Tenafly Nature Center.

Recognition Bench:

6-ft. Trail Bench: $2,000
Includes the bench, personalized plaque, and professional installation along one of our scenic trails. -
4-ft. Traditional Bench: $3,000
Includes the bench, personalized plaque, and installation in a designated area within the Nature Center.
Quality crafted outdoor benches, made using recycled materials, are the perfect way to remember loved ones.
Products are manufactured from recycled materials. The color is an approximate as actual color may vary.
Locations
Our staff will work with you to choose the perfect location, based on need, accessibility, and availability.
Installation of Your Bench
Installation usually takes about eight weeks from the time your donation is received, though weather, season, and supply availability may extend this timeframe. You will be notified by email once installation is complete.
Once installed, the Recognition Bench becomes the property of the Tenafly Nature Center. We will make every effort to maintain it; however, TNC cannot guarantee replacement if the bench is damaged or destroyed.
Inscriptions
Your donation includes a 3”x7” personalized plaque to honor a loved one or commemorate a special occasion with Tenafly Nature Center visitors.
You may choose your inscription, subject to TNC review. No additional signage or items may be added once a memorial is placed. This includes flowers, solar lights, ornaments, or other decorations. While we understand the wish to personalize memorials, the Nature Center is a preserve, and any added materials will be removed to protect the natural environment.
Recognition Tree:
Donors may choose from existing trees on our grounds or arrange for the planting of a new native tree.

Adopt an Existing Tree: $500
The donation covers the cost of a plaque and two years of maintenance. If the tree requires replacement during this period, a new tree may be planted at the current market rate. -
Plant a New Tree: $1,000
The donation covers the cost of the tree, planting labor, plaque, and two years of maintenance and replacement. After that period, a new tree may be planted at the current market rate. -
Legacy Tree: $3,000
The donation covers the cost of the tree, planting labor, plaque, and five years of maintenance and replacement. After that period, a new tree may be planted at the current market rate.
Planted trees will be a 5-gallon specimen, typically standing 4 to 6 feet tall, though exact size varies by species and variety. All species planted provide vital ecological benefits to the landscape and local wildlife.
Locations
Our staff will work with you to select the ideal tree and location based on availability. Most planted and legacy trees are situated near the front entrance and Visitor Center.
Planting of Your Tree
Tree planting typically takes about four weeks from the time your donation is received, though weather, season, and supply availability may extend this timeframe. You will be notified by email once the tree and plaque are in place.
Maintenance varies by recognition level and after the coverage period, replacements may be made at the current market rate. All Recognition Trees become the property of the Tenafly Nature Center, which will make every effort to maintain them but cannot guarantee replacement beyond the maintenance term.
