Family Forest School

This 90 minute program will allows children ages 18 months to 3.5 years and their caregivers time to explore at the pace of young children and become immersed in the environment. Each week we will set out to visit some of our favorite Forest School play spots and engage in developmentally appropriate nature exploration and experimentation. Our play will be hands-on, messy, and fun!

In keeping with our Forest School philosophy, Family Forest School is an excellent chance to create a safe and supportive atmosphere grounded in anti-bias education principles– allowing children, parents, and staff to develop a strong community focused on a mutual love of nature. With all there is to discover in the forest, children and their caregivers can engage in affective sharing—the shared experiences that bring people together. Connection comes through the appreciation of nature through activities like marveling at the sight of colorful flowers, enjoying the smell of fresh rain, hearing the calls of singing birds, feeling snow crunching underfoot, and enjoying the taste of a snack shared in the tranquility of the forest.
