Inspiring Young Hearts: The Impact of Tenafly Nature Center

This summer, Tenafly Nature Center was alive with activity, offering a sanctuary where children could disconnect from screens and connect with nature. The center continues to play a vital role in shaping and inspiring today’s youth by immersing them in the wonders of the natural world.

One of the most popular programs was the Animal Ambassador Encounters, where children had the unique opportunity to interact with non-releasable wildlife cared for by the center. These hands-on experiences sparked curiosity and delight, as kids learned the animals’ stories and why they couldn’t return to the wild. This fostered empathy and a deeper appreciation for wildlife conservation, with many children eagerly sharing their excitement and joy over these memorable encounters.

The center also focused on teaching practical skills through outdoor survival classes, emphasizing teamwork and cooperation. Young participants worked together to build shelters and learn fire safety, reinforcing community values and transforming them into eager explorers ready to learn and share their discoveries.

Overall, the center reached over 2,000 students this summer from across New Jersey and parts of New York.
