On Saturday, May 17, the Tenafly Nature Center hosted its sold-out Enchanted Evening Spring Gala at the picturesque Spring House—and it was truly a night to remember. With over 250 guests in attendance and the backdrop of a perfect spring evening, the celebration brought together friends old and new to support TNC’s mission and enjoy an unforgettable night of music, dining, and connection.
From the start, the gala lived up to its promise of magic and merriment. Attendees sipped signature cocktails, savored a mouthwatering dinner, danced under the stars, and took part in exciting raffles and prizes—all while helping raise vital funds to support the Nature Center’s general operations.
Participants at the event were welcomed by Executive Director, Debora Davidson. “Your presence, your generosity, and your belief in our mission are what sustain this sanctuary of nature, learning, and community,” she shared. “Tonight, we not only raise critical funds for the stewardship of our habitats and programs, but we also celebrate the people and partnerships who make that work possible.”
The evening’s spotlight moment came during the awards presentation, honoring two outstanding contributors to conservation and community:
- The Founders Award for Conservation was presented to the Silber Family, whose long-standing connection to TNC began in 1966 when Frank and Edith Silber played a pivotal role in preserving the land that would become the Lost Brook Preserve. Today, their legacy is carried forward by Fred and Robert Silber and their wives, Randi and Karen, whose quiet strength and continued support embody the spirit of stewardship.
- The Community Partner Award was given to Westfield Garden State Plaza, whose ongoing restoration work on TNC’s White Trail has brought thousands of native plants back to the preserve. Through hands-on volunteerism and sustained sponsorship, their team has shown what meaningful corporate partnership truly looks like.
With heartfelt applause for the honorees and joy in the air, the evening continued with dancing, celebration, and a shared sense of purpose. The success of this gala ensures that TNC can continue its essential work: protecting its almost 400 acres of forest and wetland, offering environmental education to thousands each year, and maintaining miles of trails for the community to enjoy.
Proceeds from the gala will go directly toward supporting TNC’s general operations, allowing the center to remain a vibrant, accessible, and resilient resource for nature lovers of all ages.
We extend our sincere thanks to every guest, donor, volunteer, staff member, and the incredible gala committee, led by Jenny Jackson, who brought this evening to life. Your generosity is the heartbeat of our mission—and the reason this special place continues to thrive.
Here’s to nurturing nature, inspiring community, and growing together—one enchanted evening at a time.
