Photography and Filming at Tenafly Nature Center
We’re delighted that you’d like to capture the beauty of Tenafly Nature Center (TNC)! To help protect our wildlife, preserve the visitor experience, and manage the use of our grounds, certain photography and filming activities require a permit.
Still Photography
A permit is required for photography sessions if any of the following apply:

You are a professional photographer photographing people (paid or unpaid).

You are paid for your services by a client.

Your photographs will be published (online, in print, or other media).

You intend to sell your photographs.

You plan to use props, staging, or set design.

You wish to use Nature Center facilities such as the Pavilion, shelter area, or other reserved spaces.
A permit is not required if you are a private individual taking personal photos of natural settings or wildlife, and your activity does not meet any of the criteria above.
Fees

Still Photography per hour: $25.00/hour

Still Photography one day: $150/day

Non-commercial student photo sessions pertaining to TNC's mission: Free
Permit Applications
Applications should be submitted at least 10 business days before your desired session date. Download the Still Photography Application for details and submission instructions.
Filming
All film and video productions, including motion pictures, television, commercial shoots, and media projects, must be coordinated through the Borough of Tenafly.
Additionally a TNC Film & Photography Permit is required for any project that involves:
- Multiple cameras or recording devices
- Production crews
- Lighting or staging equipment
- Filming intended for public distribution or commercial use
Permits are issued year-round, except on weekends and holidays.
